Teen Open Studio

Our open studio painting program is divided into 3 concepts:

Sketching:
Considered "the foundation of all basic arts".

Life Drawing:
In essence, art comes from a spiritual interest and is non-mechanical work.

Painting
There is color everywhere there is light, and the world is painted in harmonious colors.

Sketching

Sketching is considered "the foundation of all basic arts". The true meaning of teaching sketching is to cultivate one's observational ability. In basic training, cultivation of observational ability is the most important, even more so than specific painting skills. Sketching should help students develop a habit of observation.
More Information
Uncle Bear Art Center insists on physically observing sketches, from the pen posture to the line composition, perspective, shading, structure, space and other concepts during the teaching process.

Live Drawing

In essence, art is spiritual and not mechanical. The values of sketching and art attributes are closely related. The essence of art is the spirit, the life, the vitality, the charm, and the existence of the transcendental entity. The goal is to grasp the feeling of this living vitality, to transcend the physical entity and to grasp the divine spirit.
More Information
Uncle Bear Art Center puts great emphasis on their sketching teaching. Every week, a live-action model sketching course is arranged. It is easy to see the importance of sketching when it comes to the requirements of various famous art universities and art post-secondary schools.

Painting

There is focus on cultivating the student's awareness and expression abilities for color, grasping the tone of the overall picture and dealing with color relationships. There is emphasis on training students to grasp and coordinate the overall aesthetic of the piece, understanding and judging changes in color, strengthening insight and deepening understanding of various form and color combinations. Attention is paid to the transmission of color and emphasis on refining expression and modeling of color language .
More Information
The center's teachings insist on painting under natural light (daylight). We are worried that the student's awareness and feel for color will be hindered in the dark or under artificial light, as color perception is very difficult.
